English Activities
The Department of English at Sister Nibedita Government General Degree College for Girls actively fosters student engagement beyond the classroom through a wide range of academic and cultural events:
- Stage Performance (Annual Function 2019): Second-year students presented Bhushandir Mathe, a stage adaptation of Rajshekhar Basu’s satirical work, showcasing both literary appreciation and dramatic talent.
- Teachers’ Day Cultural Programme (2019): Organized primarily by third-year students, the event saw enthusiastic participation from all years, highlighting the department's strong spirit of community and collaboration.
- Academic Creativity: First-year students created illustrative History of English Literature charts on the Anglo-Saxon and Middle English periods, enhancing visual learning and conceptual clarity.
- Student Achievements:
- Rupashree Das (1st Year) secured 1st position in the Singing Competition held during the College Cultural Event on 28.02.2020.
- Satabdi Chatterjee (1st Year) earned the 4th position in an inter-college essay-writing competition on "Opportunities and Challenges of Online Education in the Present Scenario", jointly organized by Basanti Devi College and Belda College.
