Department of Bengali

Sister Nibedita Government General Degree College for Girls, Alipore has started its journey since 2015 as a new born college. The Department of Bengali has started at the same time (Under University of Calcutta). The Department has three faculty members at present. In 2023 it introduced the CCF Curriculum though previously it was 1+1+1 system and CBCS course.

Our department encourages our students so that they can define and enrich their literary sense that might be a good opportunity for getting job in educational institutions and print and electronic media. Our department’s aim is to make good and responsible citizens. Our department helps to promote intellectual, professional and personal development of students and to turn each student into a self-motivated and independent human being. Its aim is also to accustom the students with changing modern world and to make them aware of our socio-cultural heritage.
Not only indoor teaching, department has also introduced outdoor program- Extra-curricular activities for students like educational tour, wall-magazine, seminar, planting trees, cultural programs are encouraged throughout the year. We have arranged Summer Internship Program that helps the students to explore the real-world challenges and problems and acquire transferable knowledge. The faculties of the department give assignments to students to learn, practice and demonstrate that help to achieve their learning goals. We try to provide constant feedback to know student’s performance and bring improvement.
