Eligibility

A candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent Examination is eligible to seek admission to the 1st semester of the 3 year (six semesters) B.A./B.Sc. (Honours) Course of Studies provided she has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100 and fulfils the conditions as laid down in Clauses  1 and 2.

Clause 1:

For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the B.A./B.Sc. (Honours) Course, aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks in top-four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. Marks in compulsory Environmental Education/Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks.

A candidate taking up Honours Course in a subject must have obtained:

(a)  i. A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.

Or

ii. 55% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.

Or

iii. 50% marks in the aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subject in her previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are satisfied.

(b) Candidates belonging to Reserved Categories taking up Honours Course of Study must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate or 40% marks in the subject or related subjects at the previous qualifying examination, as the case may be.

(c) Reservation Policy for admission in three year (six semesters) degree courses of studies shall be guided by the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission), Act, 2013 and the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Rules, 2014.

A candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Mathematics if he/she has passed in Mathematics at the previous qualifying examination. A candidate who has passed in Business Mathematics is not eligible for admission to the Mathematics Honours Course.

Question b: Do you have a CU registration number or have you ever register under University of Calcutta for undergraduate studies?

If no, then there is no problem. You are eligible but your year of HS of equivalent examination should not be older than 2015.

But if yes, then

Question c: Have you ever appeared for CU examination (Part 1, Part 2 or Part 3 of 1+1+1 system)?

But if yes, then we are sorry to say that you are not eligible for admission under CBCS system as per University notification no CSR/3/18 dater 7th May, 2018 and CSR/4/18 dater 7th May, 2018.

One more important information we want to share with you is that if you are a registered student of CU (1+1+1 system) and have never appeared in any examination under CU, then you are eligible for admission under CBCS, but kindly note that you cannot change your honours subject you already had taken.

 

However if are already registered as CBCS student, then you can change your honours subject you already had taken.
